چکیده
We present some arguments in support of the association of the pulsar PSR B 1706−44 with the supernova remnant G 343.1−2.3, based on the idea that these objects could be the result of a supernova explosion within a mushroom-like cavity (created by the supernova progenitor wind breaking out of the parent molecular cloud). We suggest that in addition to the known bright " half " of G 343.1−2.3 there should exist a more extended and weaker component, such that the actual shape of G 343.1−2.3 is similar to that of the well-known SNR VRO 42.05.01. We have found such a component in archival radio data.

PSR B 1706 − 44 and the SNR G 343 . 1 − 2 . 3 as the remnants of a cavity supernova explosion
The possible association of the supernova remnant (SNR) G 343.1−2.3 with the pulsar PSR B 1706−44 (superposed on the arclike " shell " of the SNR) has been questioned by some authors on the basis of an inconsistency between the implied and measured (scintillation) transverse velocities of the pulsar, the absence of any apparent interaction between the pulsar and the SNR's " shell " , and some o...
متن کاملOn the association of G 343 . 1 - 2 . 3 and PSR 1706 - 44
The observations of the supernova remnant G343.1-2.3 with the Mauritius Radio Telescope, the Australia Compact Array, and the Hobart Single dish are presented. With these more sensitive measurements the association with the pulsar PSR1706-44 becomes much more likely. The major points from the observations are presented. .

We report on the detection of PSR 1706-44 in two ROSAT-PSPC observations. The recorded source counts are unpulsed with a 2 pulsed fraction upper limit of 18%. Spectral analysis did not distinguish between black-body and power law models; however, we argue that the lack of pulsations and the similarity in the pulsar's spin parameters to those of the Vela pulsar favour a power law model dN=dE / E...
متن کاملPulsar Near the Supernova Remnant RCW 103
Received ; accepted – 2 – ABSTRACT We report the detection of the radio pulsar counterpart to the 69 ms X-ray pulsar discovered near the supernova remnant RCW 103 (G332.4−0.4). Our detection confirms that the pulsations arise from a rotation-powered neutron star, which we name PSR J1617−5055. The observed barycentric period derivative confirms that the pulsar has a characteristic age of only 8 ...

The region around PSR B1706–44 has been observed with the HESS imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes in 2003. No evidence for γ-ray emission in the TeV range was found at the pulsar position or at the radio arc which corresponds to the supernova remnant G 343.1–2.3. The 99% confidence level flux upper limit at the pulsar position is Ful(E > 350 GeV) = 1.4 × 10−12 s−1 cm−2 assuming a power la...
